On the 4th of October, Joey de Leon received lots of negative reactions from the netizens after his remarks about depression. Along with his co-hosts at the longtime-running noontime variety show “Eat Bulaga,” on its “Juan for All, All for Juan” segment, the host extraordinaire said that depression is something that is “gawa-gawa lang.”

It does require a strong sense of courage to swallow your pride in front of the public, yet Joey had the guts to do so. His genuine apology touched the hearts of everyone his co-stars and even Sen. Risa Hontiveros. In fact, even the world-renowned Broadway singer Lea Salonga was satisfied with his plea for forgiveness. The singer said:

“Won’t say much more, except to read this, and be thankful for the apology from Joey de Leon regarding his words on depression. The more we all learn, the more compassion we’ll all have.”
