Just recently, the aunt of the young actress Julia Barretto, Claudine Barretto, finally reacts about JoshLia being the next to inherit the throne of the legendary love team of Claudine and late actor Rico Yan. People can’t help but see the resemblance between the young on-screen partners and the former love team. In a recent interview with ABS-CBN during the Star Magic Ball 2017, the elder Barretto spoke up about the issue.

A Twitter user uploaded a photo of Joshua kissing Julia’s forehead while the latter had her arms up the former’s neck with her eyes shut. In the user’s caption, it was specified that the user got reminded of the sweet love team of Claudine and Rico – one of the most celebrated duos during their generation.Apparently, Claudine frankly expressed that she doesn’t want anyone to get compared with their chemistry. As a matter of fact, she wants her niece to surpass whatever she and Rico had at their time. The veteran actress very well know that Julia can do better than her if she chooses the right projects. She said:

“Ako, ayaw ko talaga. Ayaw ko na sila ‘yung next. Bilang pamangkin ko, I want na higitan pa niya ‘yun sana. Given the right projects lang, she’s doing very well. Magaling siyang umarte. Naniniwala ako na kaya niya. Kaya nila.”
The elder Barretto explained that she wants JoshLia to make a name for themselves. She doesn’t want them to be compared and be told that they’re following her footsteps.
